The October’s special issue of Astronomy magazine “100 GREATEST PICTURES OF THE UNIVERSE” features 36 pages of spectacular astrophotography from professional observatories and astroimagers, selected among thousands of pictures. I am very honored to have one of my images among this stellar parade!
The selected image shows a super young 19 hours and 7 minutes old Moon setting behind the Alps:
Wow what a thrill: my Perseid images have been featured on yesterday’s evening news on CBS! The images are receiving a great media coverage: among others, I would like to thank Earthsky (one of my favourite web sites) for posting them on an article dedicated to the 2012 Perseid meteor shower: see here.

NASA just presented a video illustrating the conjunction show that will take place before sunrise in the upcoming days. With my great surprise, the last image of the video (@2:21) is that I took last March with my kids contamplating a similar conjunction 🙂

I just completed a poster with a collage of my images of Full Moon “captured” alongside monuments of Piedmont region and therefore I named it “Pied”moon”t. Venues (and related Moons) included in the mosaic are (from top left clockwise): the Mole Antonelliana (w/ Strawberry Moon), the Sacra of San Michele (w/post-eclipse Cold Moon), Santa Maria del Monte church (w/ Not a Blue Moon), Santa Vittoria Castle (w/Beaver Moon), Basilica of Saint John Bosco (w/ Strawberry Moon), the Basilica of Superga by night (w/ Snow Moon), Basilica of Superga by day (w/ Old fashioned Blue Moon) and in the center the Wolf Moon rising behind a house in the Langhe (a region famous for its wines).
Please contact me (stefanoderosa66@gmail.com) should you require a full resolution print of the poster or single images.
Full Moon setting behind the Alps and by the Mole Antonelliana, the iconic symbol of Turin.

This evening Strawberry Moon, even if “uneclipsed” unlike in other places around the World, looked great as rising next to the Basilica of Saint John Bosco (not far from Turin)

My image of the sunspot AR 1476 rising alogside the Basilica of Superga (taken on May 10th) received a great media coverage being viewed by thousands of people around the web — a list of main webisites where it has been featured in the recent couple of weeks is provided below (click on the link to go to the relevant page):
