Venus and Jupiter superclose conjunction

Venus and Jupiter_isola d'Elba

:: Venus and Jupiter conjunction in the wonderful predawn sky of Isola d’Elba (Italy). The image was taken from the Istia beach, in the South East region of the island  – You can find other images of this session on my FB page::

Perseid fireballs over Isola d’Elba

The show put on by the Perseid meteor shower early this morning over the Remaiolo beach (Isola d’Elba) was really great! Here you can find some fireballs captured during the photo session.

Above is a bright meteor captured next to the Plaeiades. Sopra un bolide passa accanto le Pleiadi.

Moon-Jupiter-Venus line-up with Perseid and Iridium Flare

This morning I have been so lucky to capture (from Isola d’Elba) a Perseid meteor in the same frame together with the Moon-Jupiter-Venus line-up. Few minutes earlier also a -7 mag. Iridium Flare joined the scene:

Conjunction over Côte d’Azur

I took these images from Villefranche (located in Côte d’Azur, the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France) before dawn on July 7, 2012 and showing the beautiful  line-up of (from top to bottom) Pleiades, Jupiter, Venus (sitting in the V-shaped Hyades star cluster)  and Aldebaran  in the twilight colors over Cap-d’Ail.

In the foreground on the left is visible the Greek-style property “Villa Kerylos” whereas in the background on the left is the 550 mt high “Tête de Chien”promontory.

One of my images featured on a new video by NASA

NASA just presented a video illustrating the conjunction show that will take place before sunrise in the upcoming days. With my great surprise, the last image of the video (@2:21) is that I took last March with my kids contamplating a similar conjunction :-)

Crescent Moon, Jupiter and fishermen at the Candia Lake

Picture taken on June 17, 2012, showing a slide crescent Moon and Jupiter in the twilight sky captured less than a hour before sunrise in the same frame together with busy fishermen at the Candia Lake (few km from Turin).

Young Moon and Jupiter over Rocciamelone peak

I took the photo above last evening (April 22, 2012) from Turin (Italy): it shows a 36 hours old crescent Moon pairing with a bright Jupiter setting behind the peak of Rocciamelone (3,538 m -11,608 ft), a mountain of the Graian Alps. A great way to celebrate Earth Day :-)

Contemplating the conjunction

The image shows the crescent Moon (with a beautiful earthshine), three planets (Earth, Jupiter and Venus)…and three kids (one of them is called Miranda…another Moon): what a great conjunction!

Technical details: Turin (Italy), 25 March 2012, Canon EOS 5D Mark II,  Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens set @ 70 mm; Exp: 0.5 sec; F/5.6; ISo: 1600
