This morning, a couple of hours before dawn, I moved to La Morra, a village some 50 kms from Turin with a superb view over the Langhe (the area in the Northwest of Italy wordl-wide famous for its wine).
The goal of my early wake was to catch the conjunction between a waning crescent Moon and the blazing planet Venus (the morning star) and the show did not disappointed me: the pair looked awesome in the sky painted by the twiligh colors!
Othe pictures of this session are here:
As sunrise is approaching the great landscape of the Langhe becomes more evident:
Few moments before sunrise:

Che incanto!!!! Complimenti…..il risultato ripaga di qualsiasi levataccia!!!!!
Grazie mille Fausta! ne è valsa proprio la pena

Hi Stefano
What amazing shots. I also have a Canon Eos 1000D and two lenses zoom EF 74-300mm and EFT18-55mm. I am having trouble with my night shots trying to get photo of the current 4 planets seen in the Eastern sky before sunrise. I had a great view of th planets this morning but did not get the shots. Could you help me I think I need to set my camera on M but I m fairly new to this and a little confused. Any help greatly appreciated
Regards Jenny
Many thankk for your comment Jenny!
Two days ago I took this photo of the predawn conjunction: http://ofpink.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/img_2110.jpg for which I used the following settings:
Lens set @163mm, Exp: 2 seconds, F: 5/6, ISO 200.
It is very important to have the camera on a tripod. I hope this can help you…let me know how it goes the next days
Cheers
Stefano
